About

El Oms, born Omar Juarez, is most known for his Chicano Art and video animation work he’s done in music videos for Artists such as El Michels Affair, Lee Fields, Dan Auerbach and Hermanos Gutierrez. He’s produced work for Easy Eye Sound and Big Crown Records and his work has been featured on World Star Hip Hop and Rolling Stone along with having life size Canvas Murals showcased at several Art Galleries throughout the greater Los Angelas. El Oms creates art through drawings, music video animation and signature pieces such as record sleeves, record covers, cassette tapes, stickers, and posters to name a few.
The start of his journey came at just 8 years old when Omar began paying more attention to music than he ever had before. He found himself growing found of Lowrider magazines and was fascinated by the intricate art and short and to-the-point stories he would read in Comic books. It didn’t take long before Omar began putting pen to paper himself and eventually he would put paint to canvas. He drew abstract art for a while and focused on color shading and would draw some of his favorite music artists at that time until he finally felt like he was hitting a wall with his work so one day he decided he would focus more on Chicano Art and Story based pieces and make it less about the drawing itself but rather what the images is trying to convey. And so “El Oms” was born. El Oms quickly became a sought after artist particularly in the Los Angelas area and throughout California. He started participating in Pop up shows and made several connections both in-person and through social media. One of which was Dan Auerbach from The Arcs. Dan wanted to put together a music video and wanted the music video to feature 100 % of the work of El Oms and so they got together and did exactly that. This one video not only hit over a million plays but opened up the doors to what was yet to come. El Oms quickly found himself in love with animation work and being able to tell stories just like he would read in comic books as a child. Today, El Oms still enjoys drawing and finds deep relaxation in it and continues to pursue the world of movie making and has a few big projects in the works that he’s excited to share soon. It will be his biggest work thus far.
